Persona 4 The Animation - True Story (English Version)

This one's perhaps one of my favorite covers because it's sung by my favorite Persona 4 character, Rise Kujikawa! I was extremely challenged when it comes to rewriting the english translation into a better one because the some of the lines were a bit off. Oh and sorry for the vocal delay during the second part, i really don't know why that happened, when i was editing it on soundbooth the timing sounded okay. :|

My next Persona Cover songs would be True Feelings and The Way of Memories. I haven't recorded the latter one yet but you can get a preview of the first one here. :)

True Story (English Version)
Vocals and Lyrics by Judee Zabala
Persona 4 The Animation

My heart is beating, my heart is racing
Faster, louder when you're near
It drives me crazy when you look at me
With those pretty eyes

I want to come closer
But you might just walk away
Say hello, don't tell a lie or i'll say goodbye, my love!

Shout Friends, come hear the echo dance through the world
Let's sing songs of truth and let the story unfold
Ring Bells, and let it chime for you and me
I'll knock on your door, It's time to tell the true story

I'm living my life all easygoing but my heart will feel blue
And in the end i get all anxious, you're in my mind all day

One step at a time love, you can make things happen
Change yourself, keep on believing, i will stand by your side

Just find, the truth is out, it's time to rejoice
My heart melts whenever i hear your lovely voice
Shake hands, our fingers entwined, not letting go
The truth will shine like stars, and i smile coz i have Yu

Shout Friends, come hear the echo dance through the world
Let's sing songs of truth and let the story unfold
Ring Bells, and let it chime for you and me
Let's open the door, our love will tell the true story

Videogames and Parenthood

As a gamer in her early twenties, the idea of marriage and parenthood pops up in my head from time to time. Despite my current oh-so-complicated relationship status with a non-gamer, I can somehow see my old self playing videogames with my kid sometime in the future.

I know that parents are usually strict with their kids' liesurely activities because of school. If you were to ask me though, as long as my kids do their homework on time and their grades are at least better than okay, they're free to play games as long as they want. Want to know the reason why?

The person who got me into videogames was my old man. He once owned an Atari 2600 and eventually sold it (oh no! why'd you do that!??!?) but he still has some of the old cartridges at home. When I was about 5, he bought me a Sega Megadrive II, afterwards a Game Gear, a Nintendo Gameboy and eventually, the legendary Sony PlayStation. He was actually very strict when it comes to playing hours and such but he would sometimes bend his own rules whenever he wants to borrow my PSOne and play. I remember he was so addicted to Gran Turismo, Parasite Eve and Einhänder, he would oftentimes find himself scolded by his own daughter for playing too long.

Believe it or not, Videogames did help me a lot when it comes to academics. Some games helped in widening my vocabulary, some made me learn more about mythology (thanks, Valkyrie Profile!) and some enriched my general knowledge through facts and trivia. My hand-eye coordination also improved a great lot! Who says videogames are bad for you?

I'm not saying that future parents should try and follow this example. How you plan to raise your kid would still depend on you but as for me, I want my children to experience the exciting world of gaming and reap its unexpected benefits. As long as they play responsibly, play games that are appropriate for their age, maintain a healthy social life and keep their grades up, everything will be A-okay.

One Tough Cookie

They may look pretty but they're actually the hardest cookies I've ever eaten!! I bought it at some random bakery near my office in Las Piñas for 8 bucks, I think. At first I thought it tasted and felt like those regla cookies but my gosh it's like a rock! Well it's kinda sweet but it tastes kinda burnt, no wonder it's so hard.

Speaking of cookies does anyone know what these cookies are called? They taste like heaven!

Bulsyet Ka!

Trying my hand on some contemporary art. Forgive me if I suck. This illustration is dedicated to a certain young man, by the way. ;)

Illustrating My Way to Infinity and Beyond

I have no idea how and why so many people liked this Vanille drawing of mine on Facebook and Deviantart.
Maybe it's because of the kink?

I've always dreamed of being a famous artist, being featured somewhere ever since I was a kid. It's a pretty ambitious dream I must say. I really thought my skills weren't enough and my drawings are not "publish-worthy." I've been doodling since god-knows-when, and one of my earliest memories was being scolded by my parents because I always drew on the walls, my bedroom door and even the refrigerator! To prevent me from doing so, mom has since then provided me with tons of scratch paper from the office for me to doodle on, and even bought me a couple of art materials. Yes, I was a happy kid back then---drawing houses, flowers and happy faces on sheets of paper, alone inside my colorful bedroom.

I remember during my grade school days I used to draw on pad papers and on the back of my notebooks. My classmates usually watch me while drawing and they ask me to draw stuff for them. At that time I wasn't really used to having someone watch me because I was a shy kid (don't worry, I'm already the opposite of that now that I'm older haha!) and kinda felt awkward about it. You know, confidence issues.

My old drawings found by a high school friend.  Yes. I know. They suck. No hands and bad anatomy!

Things never changed even after reached high school. I was still drawing on my notebooks during lectures, gushing classmates asking me to draw a portrait of them with their crushes and so on. Drawing is my comfort zone, my happy place. Funny as to how I remember my notebooks consisted of 30% school stuff and 70% doodle. Oh and yes, I did manage to survive high school, despite all the Chemistry and Algebra torture!

I took up Fine Arts in Advertising at the University of Santo Tomas in college. Did you know that I only found out that I would be taking up that course one month before the start of the first semester? It's quite a long story but to make it short I originally intended to take up another course which was *cough* Accountancy but failed miserably.

Sketch, draw, paint, learn more, DOTA here, DOTA there. Fast forward to a couple of years and I found myself living the life of a bum. I used my free time trying to develop my skills not only in drawing, but also on other things like audio mixing, video editing and even voice acting. I usually use Adobe Photoshop because my laptop cant handle Illustrator at that time!

My idol, former San Beda Red Lion captain Yousif Aljamal holding up an old drawing of mine.

Oh! I forgot to tell you guys that I am a HUGE San Beda Red Lions fan!! I went to San Beda Alabang until high school by the way, in case you're wondering. I loved watching their basketball victories live or on tv! They're the BEST team in the NCAA here in the Philippines, all the more reason why I am one loud and proud Bedan. Okay, this is how I KINDA got noticed by people on the internet. I eventually ended up befriending Red Lion Dave Marcelo, who informs me of their game schedules and such. Whenever there's a game, I make an "announcement photo" of game schedules like the one on the left. You know, post it on facebook, tag friends and schoolmates so that people will be aware of the new set of schedules. That picture is the very reason I became PULA's latest member. I got discovered and began "working" with them, designing shirts, posters and the like. PULA is an awesome group of Bedan photographers who takes photos of almost every San Beda basketball game. They're all nice people! I love them very much! (Also, don't forget to check out our shots and other stuff on Facebook!)
You know, being a part of PULA is very fun and exciting. You get to meet tons of awesome people and get to stay and shoot on the court during games! I really owe them a lot. Because of them I landed on a job, and a lot of opportunities opened up for me. One of them is the opportunity to do illustrations for the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

My first set of published illustrations for
the Philippine Daily Inquirer's 2bU section
featuring a chibi version of PULAtographer
 Villy Mauricio

Luis Carlo San Juan, a journalist for the 2bU Lifestyle section stumbled upon a drawing I made for my fellow PULAtographer Gerard Cruzado on Facebook. (Gee, FB, you are really powerful.) He messaged me on FB, asking me if  I would like to do illustrations for the newspaper because their editor liked my drawings. Oh goody if you guys knew how happy I was that night! I was in the office, jumping and screaming like crazy. My whole family was very happy for me and not to mention my friends as well! After my first set of illustrations got published, at the back of my mind I thought it was only a one-time thing but it wasn't. More and more tasks came in, to the point that my schedule got so packed I don't know what to do! But then again all the hard work gets paid off because people get to see my work and appreciate them, and not to mention the additional commish jobs! Well,  That's actually how my "journey" began.

I'm not there yet, but I know someday I will make it. I've always wanted to make my family and friends proud of me, despite of the other things that I lack in life. I've been through a lot, and I'm willing to endure even more if it means living my lifelong dream in exchange for all of that.

To everyone, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for appreciating the things that I do. You guys are the reason why I'm still fighting my way through the real world. Thank you, thank you so much for all your support!

I remember I made a promise to a couple of friends way back:

"Someday, when I make it big, I promise to include you guys in whatever it is I will be doing, whether it's a videogame, a cartoon or whatnot, I swear!"

A couple of my published works. Magazines, you're next! I hope.

Gundam Songs in English! - Lacus Clyne Edition

I've always been a HUGE Gundam fan ever since I was a kid. You know, after I come home from school I remember myself watching G Gundam and shout "SHINING FINGERRRRRRRRRRR!!" at the TV screen. All these mobile suits in action truly fascinates me! Oh, and the songs too! They're pretty catchy for an anime, the first one being "Just Communication" from Gundam Wing. I always find myself singing along to various Gundam tunes, especially the ones from Gundam Seed. (so many songs in that series, my god!)

One day I sang "Quiet Night" to a friend, and he said "You know, you sound just like Lacus Clyne." I was like, whoa, wait, what. I mean, I was never a Lacus fan. I like Cagalli more because our attitudes are pretty similar! Not to mention that my normal speaking voice sounds very tomboyish! Then again my friend insisted I should sing more of her songs, and when I did he suggested I record some and post them on Youtube.

The first one was "Fields of Hope," a Lacus song that I love to sing in the bathroom. O_O I really didn't know so many people would actually like that one! The mixing was poorly done because it was my first time to record a song by myself but I'll try to do a better, full version someday.

Doing Lacus Clyne songs sure is fun. A fan once suggested me to sing in cons, but I'm really shy when it comes to SOLO live performances! but maybe if I gather enough guts, I'll finally be able to sing in anime conventions. So, yeah. Check out my Lacus Clyne covers below and tell me what you think! I'll be featuring my Gundam 00 song covers on my next blog post, so watch out for it! Oh and if you have any requests please do hit me up by sending me a message on my Facebook page!

Eternal Love and the Awesome Adrisaurus

It all began one boring summer day, browsing through the Court-Records forums and stumbling upon an awesome Phoenix Wright song cover thread started by a certain "Mia Oh Maya." I first clicked on "Child of Magic," (aka Trucy's Theme) listened to the awesome jazz track and my, it instantly shook me off my bored trance! I was like, "Oh, this girl...THIS GIRL is definitely SOMETHING."

This lovely lady right here is Adriana Figueroa, more popularly known in the web as "Adrisaurus." She is responsible for doing awesome (and probably the best) cover songs from certain anime, videogames and more in YouTube that has gained her many fans because of her beautiful golden voice. And hey, she's very pretty and kind too! Most of her covers are not your usual covers, mind you. She puts on lyrics to songs that originally does not have vocals for example, the character themes from Phoenix Wright. After subscribing to her YouTube channel, downloading her songs into my player, listening (and singing along) to them for almost two years, visiting her channel right now puts a smile on my face because she has already won over 10,000 subscribers! Yay!

Being a huge Adrisaurus fan and all that, I realized her vocals might fit on the English lyrics of "Eternal Love" from Final Fantasy XIII (originally sung in Japanese by Sayuri Sugawara) I was writing at that time. The translated song was initially intended to be sung by me, but then realized that my voice sounded a bit off for the song after I did a test recording so I decided to hand it over to Adriana instead. That was the first time I "approached" her online...you know, through YouTube messaging. At first I thought she'd probably ignore it, but to my surprise she did actually reply and was very much willing to sing along to my lyrics! A couple of months later, everything went BOOM! The song was finally uploaded on YouTube and many, many people loved it! It's actually the first Eternal Love English cover ever. Me and Adri are extremely thankful and so much overwhelmed with all the positive comments everyone has been giving, to the point that even other people are already doing their own covers of the 'unofficial' English version! It's really an honor to be able to work with an extraordinary singer like her!

To make you realize why I am so ecstatic about her songs, might as well make you guys listen to her version of Eternal Love! Oh, and please check out her official Facebook fanpage! :)

ETERNAL LOVE (English Version)
Vocals : Adriana Figueroa
Lyrics : Judee Zabala

This I swear unto the starlit sky
My love for you will stay forevermore, forevermore
So hold on to this hand of mine
And I promise you, I'll never let go...

Days just keep on passing by
And you are always on my mind
Naturally, baby you're the only one

Together we face what's ahead
Unafraid of anything
And that's because you're here with me

To look onto those strong eyes
I wish time would stop and leave us here in this embrace
(Baby, we will own the night...)
I can see a thousand lights
Shining brightly from the sky onto your smiling face
And then you'll see...

Eternal love, that's what this is
This feeling that I just cannot resist
So hold on to this hand of mine
And I promise you, I'll never let go...

The day we first met, the day we first kissed
I still remember everything about us, babe
Until the day you when said yes;
These are the moments I am sure to cherish for all time...
Your lips are so sweet -- can you feel my heart beat?
I still remember everything about us, babe
And after all this time
I'm thankful to the stars that I have found you

When I think about it now,
I was probably too blessed to be forever yours
(I am yours, and you are mine...)
But I try my best to hide;
Tears falling from my eyes, cause sometimes I'm afraid
You might say goodbye

Eternal love, that's what this is
This feeling that I just cannot resist
So hold on to this hand of mine
And I promise you, I'll never let go...

Eternal love, that's what this is
This feeling that I just cannot resist
So hold on to this hand of mine
And I promise you, I'll never let go...

I swear upon the starlit sky
My love for you will stay forevermore
My heart and soul I'll give to you
Cause this warmth I feel is eternal love...
